Summer date nights can be full of possibilities, however when it is unbearably hot, it can zap the romance right out of things. The last thing you want is to be irritable because your clothing is sticking to you or your hair is frizzy.
There are a few simple solutions that I like to implement when it’s super hot, and when I was recently in Phoenix I had to definitely put them to the test.
During our stay, we had an amazing date night at the Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort. If you guys have a chance, I highly recommend visiting, the views are breathtaking! The evening started with some time in the spa. I got a Wild Lime Blossom massage and it was amazing!
After some pampering we headed to dinner at probably the best restaurant I’ve ever eaten, Elements. For more info on that you can check out my Phoenix Travel Post.
But onto the date. It was a blazing 107 degrees even as the sun went down, so that kind of heat took some serious strategy. Here are my tips on what to wear and how to look effortless.
The Outfit:
When putting together your look, you want to find something easy, somewhat loose fitting so nothing is sticking to your sweat, but still has sex appeal. I think an off the shoulder or cold shoulder dress is the perfect solution. You give a little bit of skin, but are still comfortable.
This one I am wearing has little straps, but I also love a strapless version. Here are a few more options I am loving.
The Hair:
The last thing you want is hair sticking to you or looking frizzy, which is why wearing it up is the way to go. I have really long hair so I love doing a side braid. I think it has a slightly more flirty vibe than a top knot or bun. A slicked back pony would also work. I did an entire post on some super easy and cute summer hair styles if you want to check out that post.
For this hair look here are some things I used.
The Accessories:
You will want to keep your accessories as minimal as possible. Since the days are long, you will still likely need some sunnies for the first part of the date. I did a post on why I think sunnies are the most important summer accessory, which you can check out here.
Personally, I prefer not to wear necklaces when it’s super hot out. It is so easy for them to build up sweat underneath or to just slide around on your neck. I usually reach for a statement earring and maybe a few loose bracelets.
I also go with a crossbody bag so I can sling it over my shoulder and not worry about it.
The Shoes:
There are a few ways you can go with the shoe, which of course depends on what kind of date it is. I personally love the wedge because it gives some heel height, but is still comfortable and easy to walk in.
Any kind of sandal will work, though I personally like to reserve flats for summer days.
