Valentine’s Day OOTD

For this year’s Valentine’s Day look, I decided to step outside my comfort zone with a color I never wear: red.

It’s not that I dislike red, I think it’s a nice color (except in home decor…I despise red in home decor) and I look good in red, however if you look in my closet you won’t see a single red item in site. And while I own several red lipsticks, you rarely will catch me wearing them.

I saw this dress and I immediately knew it would be perfect for Valentine’s Day, not only because it’s red, but also the flirty silhouette and sexy neckline. I wanted to create a look that would look great regardless of your relationship status. So if you are going out with your girlfriends, this look is perfect and if you have a date night it works as well.

The only thing I would change for date night is the lip color. While red lips are festive, they are also very messy when trying to kiss your Valentine. They also require lots of touch ups and you want to be focus on your date, not on fussing with your makeup. I would go with more of a pinky nude with gloss.

Of course I had to add some edge to the look to keep it from looking too sweet, I added a leather moto and a leopard clutch.
