From the Oscars to Streetstyle with DSW

With so much talk about the Academy Awards and Oscar fashion, I thought it was relevant to discuss the best, maybe of all time. Ok that’s a bit subjective so let’s just talk about a style that is my favorite.

Behold the cape dress. Done by Kate(!!!) Lupita and Gwyneth, all with perfection and ease. One of the things I love about the cape dress, aside from its über-sophistication, is it also incorporates a sort of street style vibe. It’s so cool and basically makes the statement: I’m here to tell you even at the Oscars that I know fashion.

While incorporating most Oscar fashion into your everyday look is not easy, nor practical, the cape dress translates with ease. I decided to put together a look showing you how I did just that.

This cape blazer (which I also wore to London Fashion Week here) is the perfect way to bring that sophisticated Oscar look into your outfit. I paired it with a white billowy blouse with black edging to give it a classic vibe. That is also the test of an amazing Oscar look, timeless and classic. Will we look back in 20 years and think, “That was an amazing look!”

I threw on these slightly coated pants I picked up while I was in London in the fall and decided that since we were keeping things classic I would give you two shoe options (mostly because I am obsessed with this shoe and I needed it in both colors!)
