I saw The Town while in DC with the bf. As you probably know by now I live in Los Angeles but I grew up in Boston, as did my bf. As a result, when we see movies like this we are pretty critical. Most movies about Boston are pretty “Hollywood” in the sense that they show the prettier version of what Boston is rather than the true gritty side (yes as much as I love it, Good Will Hunting still was a prettier Hollywood version).
I can say with complete certainty that this film is as authentic as they come. Gone Baby Gone was the truest portrayal of the blue collar neighborhoods that make up Boston I had seen up to now, but Ben Affleck definitely outdid himself with this one. Authentic story, accents, situations and overall feel. (and Ben’s not bad to look at either!) I give it two thumbs up! 🙂
