BTS: Los Angeles Designer Cheryl Koo

It’s no secret that I am obsessed with adding edge to my outfits. Any excuse to wear leather 12 months out of the year and I am doing it. (Who am I kidding, I don’t need an excuse!) I have a particular fondness for animal embossed details and I usually go to them to add some grit to an otherwise saccharine look.

So naturally when I was invited to the photoshoot for edgy Los Angeles designer Cheryl Koo’s new line CM2K a few weeks ago, I couldn’t resist. The line is a luxe take on edgy streetwear. The pieces shot that day were all black with so many different textures, including rich velvets, open knits, satin, and leather. What’s great is that each piece can be mixed and matched and also seamlessly worked into your regular wardrobe. The collection has an urban vibe influenced by her Los Angeles roots and her extensive travel .

My favorite piece hands down was the cropped jacket… it was serious love at first sight. A piece that would never make it into my closet because I would be wearing it everyday. Seriously it’s a dream piece and I found out it was made the night before the shoot.  Cheryl’s designs are always evolving and she adds new pieces constantly so she has a tough time separating into seasonal collections. She told me there will be some color worked into this one, but for now this all black line is amazing as is. As if her fashion design talent wasn’t enough, she also does hair and makeup, exhibit A – this gorgeous model. Yep, that’s right this sick pink eye was not only her idea, but her creation. A woman with many talents and definitely one to watch.
