Love it Or Leave It: Tria Laser Hair Removal 4x Update

Tria, laser hair removal

Several weeks back I told you guys (here) that I was embarking on a three month home laser hair removal test drive with the Tria Hair Removal Laser 4x. I gave you the preliminary details in that post, but today I just wanted to give you a quick update of how things are going so far.

So the first things first, the laser hurts. But let me explain. There are five levels and you need to start on the lowest level first. With each round you’ll become more tolerant and will be able to move it up.

So you start by holding the sensor at the bottom of the handle up to your skin. This tells the laser your skin a good candidate so it protects you from getting burned. (See my last post for more on that and also pics below…please excuse my pale skin…I have since put on a few layers of self tanner!)  Once it beeps it is ready to go. You want to aim the laser at the area and move it 1 /4 of an inch over to the next spot so there is some overlapping. Each area takes a different amoutn of time. The upper lip is about 2-3 minutes, the underarms are about 5 minutes per side and the legs are about 15 minutes per side so it is a bit time consuming of you do it all at once. You need to do it every 2 weeks and each time you will be able to tolerate a little more laser.

When it fires it feels like a warm little sting. Not horrible or anything, but I tried to crank it up to right five after I finished level one and um…don’t do that. Or I mean if you have a really high tolerance for pain, knock yourself out, but me…not so much. So far I have made it to level three and what I noticed is I saw results immediately. I used to shave my legs every day because when the stubble grows in my skin gets itchy and I hate that. Now I am shaving every other day which is a really good start. Bottom line is so far it’s working.

Stay tuned for my next update!

Yeah, it definitely hurts, but you do build up a tolerance for it. I think as you zap the hair follicle more and more, the pain gets less and less and you can go up another level. But it definitely works even if you keep it on a low level to minimize pain, you just need to do it a few more weeks than you would if you cranked it up. I for one, will go a little longer! LOL
