Doesn’t the print on this kimono just transport you to a Hawaiian island? I picture myself on the beach with a tropical drink complete with an umbrella and a cherry, are you with me?! Ok so maybe I’m exaggerating a tiny bit but I really do love this piece. It’s a bit brighter and busier than things I usually wear but the print is so happy! I threw it on over dark denim and nude heels to dress up an otherwise plain look, but really it’s so versatile it can even be worn over a bikini to the beach. (Clearly I have a one track mind!) As for the shoes, I have had these shoes for several years and they have been through quite a bit as you can probably tell, but I still love them! They were actually the first gift my boyfriend ever bought for me and they have a bit of a cute story.
We were doing the long distance thing for the first few years and so much of our relationship took place via Skype. One day while skyping I mentioned in passing these shoes I was dying for on Shopbop. Thinking nothing of it, the very next weekend we both decided to fly in to Boston where he was working for a few days. When I arrived I of course jumped in his arms over the moon to be with him, and then I looked over to the bed and there was a box on my side (he has a thing for always sleeping on the right side so no matter where we are the left side is always my side.) So I asked what the box was and he looked at me confused and said “I don’t know that’s strange…” I walked over to it and it was addressed to me. He then told me to open it and see what it was, which of course I did. To my surprise and delight it was these amazing shoes, the pair I had mentioned in passing on Shopbop. I looked up at him and he was grinning. He was so satisfied with himself that he had me fooled and was able to surprise me. I just thought it was the sweetest thing ever!
I have had them ever since and worn the heck out of them. Though I don’t wear them often anymore, I like to pull them out every now and then and take them for a spin. Between the print of this kimono and the memory of the shoes, this outfit is such a happy little look!
