Last weekend in honor of the Kentucky Derby, Shoplately along with America’s Best Racing invited me to the Santa Anita Park to celebrate and watch some horse racing. Events like this call for ladylike dressing so I chose to wear this flowy bright colored dress. It was a good thing too, because it was a balmy 98 degrees in Arcadia, CA that day and to say I was sweating is an understatement! You can probably tell in these pics, my makeup was dripping off my face, my skin was splotchy and my dress was wrinkled. But despite all of that, it really was a fun day. Horse racing is such an interesting culture. There’s so many traditions like sipping Mint Julep while waiting with excitement for each Kentucky Derby race. Then there’s fashion, the ladies of all ages take their hats VERY seriously! The bigger, the more frilly, the better. Santa Anita Park has such a pretty mountain backdrop to enjoy the Kentucky Derby particularly when being in Kentucky isn’t exactly an option.
Did you guys attend any Kentucky Derby events? I would love to know what you wore! Comment below, email, instagram or tweet at me and share your looks!
