Miss Independence with Sears

We are a few days away from the 4th and all across the web, particularly in the fashion world we can find red, white and blue themed inspiration. Bloggers are currently styling their very best stripes, with splashes of red in their bags, shoes or even Independence Day themed manicures. This is precisely why when Sears asked me to style an outfit with a ‘Miss Independence’ theme, I opted to go in another direction. Yes, the 4th of July is synonymous with the red, white and blue color palette, but to be honest, I feel patriotic the rest of the year too, so I felt comfortable veering a little of course.

Miss Independence, to me, is a woman, who isn’t afraid to do her own thing. She doesn’t need to follow trends or do what everyone else is doing. She is confident enough to go with her own flow.

I haven’t been in Sears in awhile, but I have been seeing great pieces from the Kardashian Kollection and I have been wanting to check them out. I finally got my chance the other day when I had the amazing opportunity to go into Sears and have a very serious shopping sesh. Let me tell you, I had so much fun!

One of the Kardashian’s Miss Independence moments was paving the way for curvy girls to feel more confident about their bodies, and smashing that Kate Moss stick figure body that everyone was striving for but no one could achieve. It’s because of this, that the Kardashian Kollection seemed like the perfect way to celebrate that Miss Independence theme. As I suspected I found so many pieces that are perfect for someone who has a curvy body like me. I have a small waist and wider hips and this can sometimes pose a problem with finding things that flatter my shape. The wrong outfit can really make me look pear shaped and that is something I definitely don’t want. I found this floral pencil skirt and and thought it was summery and pretty and so what if it isn’t red, white and blue…it’s me, and I like it! SearsSearsSearsSearsSearsSears
