Let’s talk protein bars.
I have always had sort of a love – hate relationship with them. I love the grab and go convenience of them, but the ones that are good for you, usually don’t taste good. (If you eat protein bars, you know that protein bar mixed with cardboard after taste I’m talking about.)
Of course the ones that taste good, are usually loaded with artificial stuff so then what’s the point.
I have recently discovered FitJoy and I am partnering with them for this post to share, not only how delicious their protein bars are, but how they help me stick to my fitness goals even though my schedule is super busy!
Being gluten intolerant is something I’ve been dealing with for 12 years. 12! Back before you could find just about any gluten free options and when you told people they thought you had a disease.
It seems funny to look back on that now, especially since the quality and quantity of gluten free options is endless.
My fitness journey hasn’t been easy, and I’ve talked about a lot. In addition to gluten intolerance, I am insulin resistant and that just adds even more of a challenge. It’s because of this, I have spent a long time learning about food and healthy ingredients and I am very conscious about what I put in my body.
It’s not always easy to eat clean though. Especially when your schedule is moving 90 miles and hour all the time.
Some things I do consistently, workout daily (yes, 7 days a week!) even if it means just walking a few miles. Being active is super important not only to stay fit, but it also helps with stress and mental health.
Another thing is I eat every 3 hours consistently and rather than count calories, I make sure I am hitting my macros. But eating every few hours is hard especially when I’m not at home. I meal prep, but sometimes there’s just not time to sit down and eat a meal. That’s why I love the convenience of protein bars, the problem is I am SUPER picky about them. There’s just not a lot out there that have good ingredients and taste good.
I really love FitJoy for a few reasons: they are both good for you AND taste good, and they do not contain Malitol, GMOs, artificial flavors or sweeteners, are grain and gluten-free. They literally taste like a candy bar – so they satisfy the sweet tooth, without compromising the waist line if you know what I mean.
They fit nicely into my routine – I can throw them in my bag and pull it out when I need it no matter where I am and they even have fun size bars which are 1/3 the size for a quick snack which I think is such a great idea. They’re also a great option if I’m just a tiny bit shy of hitting my macros.
If’ve you’ve been on the hunt for a protein bar that isn’t loaded with bad ingredients, or something gluten or grain free, I think you guys will really like these. My personal favorite flavor is the Cookie Dough Brownie, if you are a chocolate lover, I highly recommend!
XO,
