Summer is the season of vacationing, however not all of us have the time or the funds to hop on a plane. Not only is it the time of year when airfares skyrocket, but there are usually major crowds. I like the idea of building in vacation type activities into every day life. In my neighborhood every year there is a summer concert series held every Sunday evening in the park. Hundreds of people from the community come with their chairs, blankets and coolers full of food and drinks to relax and hang out before it’s time to start the week. It’s a nice way to extend the weekend. The city actually allows alcohol in the park that one day of the week all summer. Recently I was asked to try the new Palm Breeze spritzers and the Ruby Red Citrus is the perfect beverage to bring you that tropical vacation vibe right in your own backyard (or in my case, the park!) They also have a Pineapple Mandarin Orange Flavor that sounds really yummy!
I am fortunate enough to live in a beach community so I already live in a vacation destination, but even if you don’t, I bet there are lots of things in your area to do during the summer months that you don’t even know about. A good way to get in the know is to search your city’s website to see if there is a calendar of summer events and you might be surprised to find something cool. In Hollywood they have a night where they play a movie outside in Hollywood cemetery, and just like the park in my neighborhood, people bring their blankets, chairs and snacks and watch the movie of the week.
Another thing you can do is pull out your vacation style! Create some looks you would wear on a trip and wear even if you aren’t traveling. Take this dress for example. I imagine wearing this out to dinner in Hawaii. It’s got vacation written all over it doesn’t it? But in the summer months this is completely appropriate to wear so even though I’m not going to Hawaii, a fun idea is to seek out a Hawaiian restaurant and bring it to me!
I’d love to hear your every day vacation ideas! I’m always looking for new ones so leave me a comment and let me know what you’ve got! You can also tag me on social media and use hashtag #VacayEveryDay
