So summer is ending (sniff sniff) which means a lot of things will begin to change. For one, the weather starts to get cooler, but also (and this is my least favorite) the days get shorter, the sun goes down early and it gets dark at 4pm! (YUCK!) But before we get there, we still have a few more weeks to enjoy some mild weather and some prolonged days.
I am heading on (another) trip this weekend. I am flying to D.C. but then my bf and I are driving to Boston for the holiday weekend. It’s a 9 hour drive but it will be fun to go on an end of the summer road trip just the two of us. We are both from there so we will get to spend the weekend with friends and family and enjoy some last summer fun.
In honor of the end of summer, I have been reflecting on my summer ‘to do’ list and I still have some work to do! I have decided I am going to make a gallant effort to check off some of the things I missed! Here’s the list:
1.) READ A BOOK
I have been wanting to sit and read a book, which is something I typically do in the summer, but due to trying to juggle work with my constant traveling and blogging, I just haven’t had the time to do it. I have one geared up and ready so I am going to make an honest effort even if it’s only a little each day 🙂
2.) GO TO THE BEACH
Ok this one seems kind of obvious right? Well since SoCal didn’t get the memo that Summer had begun meant very few days warm enough for the beach. And when it finally did arrive I just didn’t have the time. SO… I WILL go to the beach as soon as I return from my crazy Labor day weekend Road trip. 🙂
3.)BBQ
One of my favorite summer activities is going to a BBQ. I love the social gathering, the smell of the food cooking and game playing. I am hoping to check this one off this weekend.
4.) SUMMER MOVIE NIGHT WITH GIRLFRIENDS
CHECK. I went to both Eclipse and Eat Pray Love with a group of girlfriends and we stopped and had cocktails before hand. Much needed bonding time 🙂
5.) TAKE A TRIP
CHECK. Well that’s an understatement….I went somewhere once a month!
May: I kicked off Memorial Day Weekend in Vegas.
June: I went to D.C.
July: I went to Boston
August: I went back to D.C.
September: And ending Labor Day in both D.C. and Boston…hmm…
6.) NIGHT ON THE TOWN WITH GIRLFRIENDS
CHECK. On my trip to Boston in July I had lots of fun out on the town with the girls and I intend to repeat this weekend as well 🙂
7.) GET ICE CREAM:
I love getting ice cream on a hot summer night right before the sun is setting and trying to sit and eat it before it melts. Believe it or not I have yet to do this…
8.) GO SWIMMING:
CHECK. Although I haven’t been since the beginning. I spent several days by the pool when I was in Vegas in May.
9.) OUTDOOR FESTIVAL:
CHECK. Every Sunday throughout the Summer there is a concert in the park series that goes on in my town. Thousands of people come and set up shop, bringing blankets, chairs, food, wine and sit and socialize and have a great time. I was able to make it down there once, but hey, at least I made it!
10.) RIDE MY BIKE:
CHECK. This is the one thing I actually have been able to be consistent about. I have been riding my bike at least around the neighborhood where I live 4-5 days a week. I slap on my ipod and I find its really therapeutic to ride around, listening to music with the wind blowing in my hair.
So we’ll see what I’ll actually be able to accomplish! What’s on your summer to do list? Did you find you were able to accomplish what you were hoping to?
