California Coast Photo Diary

I mentioned a few weeks ago I was hitting the road up the California coast and if you are following me on instagram you may have seen some of the photos I posted. I have lots of stuff to share with you about the trip, but first wanted to share a photo diary I took.

First I want to say I really didn’t know just how much beauty the California coast had. I first stopped in Big Sur and the cliffs, the water, the beautiful trees…it was just breath taking. I took a few shots with my phone, but I really wanted some high quality shots so I brought my new Olympus PEN E-PL7.

This was my first time using the Olympus PEN and as you can see from the photos it’s awesome! It really captures the detail and beauty in a way my phone just couldn’t. It’s small and compact and also has touch screen, wifi and social sharing technology so you can easily share on social media. Another thing I love is the lens are interchangeable which as a blogger is really important. Off the blogger clock, (like at a wedding or family event) it’s just not realistic to carry around my big clunky camera and phone photos are just not as good. I like the Olympus PEN for those on the go moments to get high quality photos.

After Big Sur, I headed to Monterey and Pacific Heights where I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn and had breakfast at the cutest restaurant, the Red House Cafe. The decor was so quaint and the food was so good. There was something about that area that reminds me of growing up in Massachusetts and heading down to Cape Cod. There is just so much charm and character.

Then it was off to San Francisco, where I rode the cable cars, went site seeing to the Golden Gate Bridge, Painted Ladies and ate some amazing restaurants. More of those to come, but if you are a foodie, you will love San Francisco! It wasn’t my first time there, but it was the most amount of time I’ve been able to spend, really getting to know the city and I’m so glad I am able to share my pretty images with you!
