By now you may have heard, the latest trend in beauty is ‘strobing,’ which is basically just a fancy way of describing extreme highlighting. Allegedly this is suppose to be bigger than the contouring trend (not sure I see that happening…)
Personally I love highlighter, the more bling the better (Can you see me from outter space? No? I guess I need to add more then!) I recently hit pan on my tried and true MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Soft and Gentle, and decided I better go get a backup stat. I also decided that I need to spread my little wings and try some new ones and at the top of my list was the new collaboration from Becca and Jaclyn Hill, the Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop.
As luck would have it right before I went to shop for highlighters, I was introduced to Splender, an online shopping site that gives you up to 40% back on all your purchases. Get paid to shop you ask? YES. I have used sites like that before, but it seems to take forever me to earn such a small amount of money. On Splender, the cash back is a lot higher and the site is so much easier. Plus there are 800+ stores, and so many good ones for fashion and beauty, namely Sephora and Nordstrom, which is where I shopped. (They even have Revolve, Forward by Elyse Walker, All Saints, I mean REALLY good ones!) You can even stack savings (Example: 15% off sale + extra 30% off coupon + 5% cash back = big savings!) and let me tell you, I’m about that life!
Splender is free to join, and then you just choose the store you want to shop at, click a deal or offer you want and you’ll then be transferred to that stores website. Complete your purchase how you normally would and the store pays Splender a commission for sending you there to shop. Splender then shares that money with you. Sort of a one stop personal affiliate link shop. What I love is that I am getting money for shopping at a store like Sephora rather than having to wait to the few times a year they offer their 20% off to VIB’s.
So back to my shopping ‘trip.’ In addition to getting both highlighters (check out the swatches below) while I was on Sephora I realized I needed to restock my Brow Wiz pencil by Anastasia and in true form, Sephora had some good samples, The new Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation which I’ve been dying to try, and also MAC Pro Eye Makeup Remover (actually, I think I got this one from Nordstrom) So it ended up being a mini beauty haul (doesn’t it always…?)
Since then I have acquired a few more highlighters and I am now thinking about doing a strobing tutorial video. Is this something you guys want to see?
