Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue

Bare Minerals

Winter has never been good to my skin. When I lived in Boston years ago I would immediately get an eczema rash when the temps dropped, my skin would crack and I would be scrambling to find makeup that wouldn’t stick to my dry patches and break me out at the same time.

Now that I’ve lived in California for many years, my skin needs have changed, however one thing is the same; winter is not good to my skin. It’s certainly not as bad as my days in the snow, but the weather does get cooler and my skin gets dull and dryer than usual (not to mention ghostly pale but that’s a different conversation for a different day!)

Given these circumstances, I was excited when I heard about Bare Minerals new Complexion Rescue tinted hydrating gel cream. Not a tinted moisturizer, not a foundation…BB cream? Well, sort of but better. It’s a powerful hydrating cream that not only makes your skin look better when it’s on, but actually makes your skin look better over time.

What it says it does:

  • Powerful hydration: marine botanicals help replenish thirsty skin
  • Mineral electrolytes help energize skin
  • Dewy sheer to medium coverage for a radiant soft smooth finish
  • Non chemical, mineral based broad spectrum SPF 30
  • No silicone, oil, parabens or fragrance
  • Hypoallergenic, none comedogenic, dermatologist tested.
  • 215% increase in hydration after on week
  • 100% of women experienced an improvement in skin texture after one week

What I think:

So far I’ve used it once while I was moving and I thought it was fantastic. My skin looked worse than usual during the move but the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue helped with the dry skin in the corner and sides of my nose and gave me a glowy look. It’s got a nice light consistency but the level of coverage build-able. For me, this is an important factor because I want more coverage and a tinted moisturizer just doesn’t cut it. There are 10 shades to choose from and I recommend using the Smoothing Face Brush which is a dual fiber synthetic brush. It helps apply it with an airbrushed look which I really liked a lot.

I’m going to continue to use it and I will give you an update later. Let me know if you’d like to see a review on youtube or a tutorial using it.

This sounds like a good product, I'd love to see a full review and demo! Also, have you ever used the liquid foundation from Bare Minerals? I'm intrigued- I used their powder foundations when I was younger- but I don't love them now!

Ok, I will put something together for you. Yes their BareSkin liquid foundation is one of my FAVORITES. It's a serum and foundation all in one. I'm with you on the powder foundations. As I've gotten older they just aren't right for my skin unless used as a setting powder over something with a little less coverage. I'm all about liquid and I love that Bare Minerals products actually help improve your skin while you're wearing them. That's a huge plus for me! xo

That is so incredibly helpful thanks! I’m torn between the bareskin and urban decay naked, but you have helped do much! Xoxo

I use the new airbrush foundation but found that it did not last as long as my day did. I wonder if using this under my foundation as a primer would be a good idea??

If you need more coverage I think it could be a good idea. Another thing is to use a setting spray. A really great inexpensive version is by NYX Cosmetics. Spray over your makeup when you are done applying and it will stay put for hours! 🙂
