September is around the corner and with it marks the end of summer. Back in the day, that would mean back to school, but nowadays the powers that be hold nothing sacred, and force kids back to school in August. (August?! That’s just mean!) Grad school is no different, we start our fall semester early this year too (this week to be exact) and it really makes for a short summer. The good thing for me is I am taking some classes online so that definitely makes it easier, although I do miss the days of back to school shopping and getting a whole new wardrobe for the coming year. It was the feeling of starting fresh, a clean slate, one year older. The problem with starting in August, however, is it’s still a little too warm to wear the fall clothing that comes with the territory.
When American Eagle Outfitters asked me to team up and create a back to school outfit I thought back to those high school days. I also thought about what I would do if I was starting in August. Varsity jackets are really on trend and remind me of my days dating the football quarterback and getting to wear his letter jacket. This American Eagle varsity jacket is nice and light so it can be worn over the shoulders in the warmer climate and then used to layer when things cool down. Boyfriend jeans are a year round staple and I paired them with a cropped tee, again taking into account the weather but balanced it with this cute hat, still keeping the fall vibe. I think a pointy toe flat is the perfect shoe for school and I couldn’t resist the opportunity to add a pop of leopard.
XO,
I love everything about this look! Those shoes are the cutest 🙂
