5 Ways to Soak up the Last Days of Summer

Although the weather doesn’t get cool for another few months here in LA, the summer is still coming to a close. I am starting to have sweaters and pumpkin spice on my mind and looking forward to the holiday season.

But before I jump the gun, I am taking time to really soak up these last days of summer. Reflecting on how fast it went by, and the things I wanted to do but didn’t, has helped me zero in on a few things I want to get in before moving into fall.

1. Read a book.

This might sounds too easy, but I look forward to summer reads. There is something nostalgic about them, yet I never did get a chance to do it this year. I want to make it a goal, even if it’s a few minutes a day, to squeeze in one chic-lit book.

2. Walk on the beach by myself.

Another very simple thing that is food for the soul, yet hasn’t made it’s way into my reality yet. Taking that time away from my computer and phone to just think and reflect is a great way to head into the fall season and I plan to do it ASAP.

 3. Attend a summer series event.

Every city has special events during the summer months, weather it’s a concert in the park, and outdoor movie or soiree. I used to go to concert at the park every Sunday here in my town, complete with blankets and full picnic. It’s one of my favorite summer weekend events and I haven’t gone once this year. Going STAT.

4. Take a weekend staycation.

I have done some traveling this summer, but it has been mostly for work and it seems my weekends have been filled with work or home projects with very little down time. I am planning one weekend of pampering that includes a facial, pedicure, reading some magazines (some of the book in number 1) and just relaxing. Basically anything not having to do with my laptop or phone!

5. Plan a labor day soiree with girlfriends.

Because nothing ends summer like a good labor day gathering of friends filled with Rose’ and laughter. I added some new touches to my patio recently, (you can see my original patio makeover here)  so I intend to make some yummy snacks, some summery drinks and toast to the end of a great season!

Leave me a comment and let me know what you guys are doing to soak up the last days of summer!
