Do you guys remember when Beauty Blenders first came out? It was like this amazing egg shaped magic sponge that changed the makeup game forever. For the low low price of $20 you could have a sponge that would last a few months and then you’d have to throw it out due to rips, tears and stains. But man, you would have that flawless base overtime and that felt worth it.
Fast forward a few years and so many other brands have created their own version. And if you are one of those people who is tired of spending $20 every few months on a sponge because you know it works, it’s tried and true and you don’t want to veer of course in the event you get something that is shitty and then you don’t get that flawless base you have come to LOVE…. then girl…I’ve got you covered!
Being a foundation junkie who prefers a sponge application over a brush, I’ve made it my mission to test and try as many affordable sponges I could get my hands on and I have narrowed it down to the 5 absolute best – and every one of them is as good, or better than the $20 version.

My Top 5 affordable Sponges:
- L’oreal Infallible Blend Artist Foundation Blender – This sponge was the first one to open my eyes that there could be something as good as the Beauty Blender for fraction of the price. It blends just as good, it’s actually more durable – I’ve had one for a year that never ripped once. And for $7.99?!
- Vanity Planet Blend Baby Dual Sponge – I talked about this one in my podcast episode Pores No More and also in my video on how to erase your pores. I swear my this sponge to really help get the most coverage because one side has a silicone application which allows you to really move the product without absorbing it. The other side is a regular sponge which helps blend any excess. It’s genius! They come in a pack of 2 for $14.99
- Morphe Highlight and Contour Sponge – This one I grabbed on a whim when visiting the Las Vegas rich and mortar store at Planet Hollywood because it was $7 and I was intrigued by the shape. Turns out this one is pretty awesome as well and the flat edge makes it super easy to get under the eye. That said, this one does tend to rip a little bit, but for that price point, I don’t mind as much.
- Ofra Cosmetics Perfecting Puff – This one is newer to my collection and to be honest I didn’t think I was going to like it because it’s SUPER squishy. I mean 10x as squishy as the Beauty Blender. My first thought was that it would likely absorb way too much product and I’d need 10 layers of foundation to get a full coverage. Well let me tell you I was dead wrong. I LOVE this sponge SO MUCH! It gives a flawless skin like finish. And the price tag is only $11.
- Sonya Kashuk Makeup Blender Sponge – This sponge is literally the size of my head. I mean if you need to blend your foundation in a hurry, this sponge can literally do half your face in a few seconds. It really covers a large area in short amount of time and that’s just one of the reasons I love it. The blend is as good as the others and the price tag – $7 at Target
