Personally fall is my favorite season for fashion. There are just so many ways to make a look more interesting whether it be a killer coat, tons of layers or an amazing bootie.
There is, however, something a bit freeing about summer dresses. They are a simple, one and done way to dress without needing a lot of thought. The problem with this is, after awhile, it can become a little stale.
So how do you maintain your chic factor, while wearing a simple dress? Here are 4 ways!
Cropped Jackets
A cropped jacket is an easy way to add a summer appropriate layer. Obviously the level of heat will dictate whether or not a jacket is appropriate, however summer nights usually cool down, depending on where you live.
I love adding a cropped jacket to my summer dress and this vintage cropped levis version is a go to for me. (You guys know my obsession with denim!) Here are some other cropped jacket options I really love.
Chic Sunnies
I recently did a post discussing why sunnies are the best summer accessory. They are a must have especially during the summer, but don’t under estimate how they can really up the chic factor of your look.
I love this pair from Quay Australia, but my sunnies are like my children, I love them all! The trick is to find the styles that suit your face and get a variety that you absolutely love. Here are some more options I think are lust worthy.
Cute Sandals
This season, it’s all about lace ups. I have them in a low sandal like I am wearing here, and also the gladiator version. I love this pewter shade, which goes with everything, but I also have them in black and olive.
If you are not a fan of the lace up, or if you are looking for another style, there are so many ways to go with this. You can add a wedge heel for some height, go the flatform route, or just something simple with an ankle strap.
Whatever sandals you choose, make sure they are something that really adds to the outfit and doesn’t get lost in it.
Of The Moment Bag
A stunning bag can stop traffic, so imagine what it can do for your summer dress!
Right now it’s all about the backpack. I have been obsessed for quite awhile and you’ve seen this particular Henri Bendel version styled in some of my past looks like this one, this one and this one.
If backbacks aren’t your thing, not to worry, there are other options that are just as chic.
Outfit Deets: Dress – Lovestitch Clothing, Jacket – Vintage Levis, Shoes – DSW (these are similar) , Bag – Henri Bendel, Sunnies – Quay Australia
One other tip I can give to up the chic factor of your summer dress is to choose styles with interesting details like cutouts, embroidery and cool hemlines. Subtle details can definitely add something special to the overall look!
