Eco friendly beauty brands are seemingly everywhere these days, which is definitely a good thing, but weeding through them and finding the ones that are truly great can be a daunting task. That’s why I am here to do the work for you guys! These three brands are worthy of sharing with you beauties, because they are paraben free, work well and are products you can feel good about.
We all know parabens are bad for us, but what exactly are they? (don’t feel bad if you don’t know, because I had to look it up) Parabens are basically used as preservatives by the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. The down side, is they’ve been found in breast cancer tumors, and also mimic estrogen, which is the hormone that plays a role in breast cancer development. Coincidental? The jury is out, but if you aren’t keene on taking the chance then you should definitely check out these brands.
Whish self tanner: The minute I tried this, I was wowed. It goes on like a lotion, spreads effortlessly, blends well and smells like a little slice of coconut heaven. It’s paraben free, sulfate free and has organic ingredients including aloe, shea butter and cocnut oil. Once the color develops it’s a perfectly pretty tan shade that rivals any other tanner I’ve tried. This is definitely a new favorite.
Whish cc body cream: Like the tanner, the first thing that captured me was the amazing smell. This is a lotion that contains tiny particles of shimmer that work to camouflage flaws. It gives a hint of bronze, is also paraben and sulfate free and made up of organic ingredients. If you like to have that healthy glow, you will love this stuff.
Nvey Eco is a makeup brand made up of organic products that work just as great as any other makeup brands, without the harsh chemicals that are hard on your skin and on your health. I have to be honest I was a tiny bit skeptical that makeup free of all the chemicals would actually be as effective as other makeup, but this line certainly proved otherwise. These are some things that I tried:
Creme Deluxe Flawless Finish Foundation: This comes in a compact but is creamy so it spreads easily. It’s full coverage when built upon and is formulated to soften skin. It also contains vitamins A, C & E to protect from free radicals. I’ve been using this quite a bit and I apply with my Sigma 3DHD brush which helps it blend beautifully.
Erase Concealer in medium: Like most concealers, this covers blemishes, redness and dark circles, but can also be used to highlight and as a shadow base. It comes in a compact so it’s not as creamy as a liquid, but it’s creamy enough to give smooth and even coverage. It’s easily buildable so it can cover everything. It’s a blend of soothing organic ingredients that are great for sensitive skin.
Primer +: This primer is really moisturizing and provides a great base to apply foundation. It makes your skin look dewy and healthy.
Powder Blush in Blushing Dawn: This peachy blush is a perfect shade for both day and night looks. It’s pigmented enough to take you from pale to a healthy flush and looks great on any skin tone. It’s a blend of organic cornstarch and jojoba oil and is talc free with natural mineral pigments.
Nourishing Bronzer in Oasis: This bronzer is dark and pigmented but it blends really well and is great for contouring. It’s formulated with Vitamins A,C & E, and talc free to moisturize and lift the complexion. I’ve been using this to contour pretty much every day since I got it.
Nvey Eco Eye Shadow in Rose Gold and Black Gold: I had fun playing with these shades and creating a golden smokey eye. They apply like any other pigmented shadow and blend well. They’re talc free and contain corn starch, chamomile, jojoba oil and are great for sensitive skin.
Lip Lustre in Berry Delight: When I first tried this I have extremely chapped lips. Often times when I put certain glosses on it will make it worse but this did the opposite. It made them feel soft and moisturized and much better. It has enhanced beeswax which I’m sure is why.
Advanced Care Lip Colour in #359: This soft pink color looked great under the lip lustre and also added serious moisture to my chapped lips. It has an organic castor oil base combind with safflower, beeswax and vitmamin E.
BB+ Creme in Light: To be honest, I prefer a fuller coverage than bb cream, but I did put this on to go to the gym and it stayed on the entire time. It’s the first BB creme formulated with super anti-oxidants Quandong and Kakadu Plum that nourish and revitalize all skin types.
Finding good sulfate free hair products can be a bit of a challenge, but this Smooth Sexy Hair collection is pretty great. Not only is it free of all those harsh sulfates (which is really great if you like your keratin!) but it works to help eliminate frizz and give you smooth healthy looking hair. These products are made with cocnut oil and are also paraben and gluten free.
Sulfate Free Shampoo and Conditioner: I’ve been using these since I got them and they have really helped tame my hair. Since getting bangs, keeping my natural waves at bay has been a challenge. I really like these a lot.
Smooth Extender Mask: I use this twice a week and I am obsessed. My hair instantly melts like butter the minute I put it on and when I rinse it out it feels smooth and soft like I just got it washed at the salon. I feel like this might be the number one reason, my frizz status has improved dramatically.
Smooth Encounter Blow Dry Creme: I apply this to my just washed damp hair, though I do not often actually blow dry, it helps to prevent crazy frizz while it air dries.
Frizz Eliminator/Frizz Eliminator Lite: These are amazing oil based serums. The lite is for fine/normal hair and regular is if you have thick hair. I use them both depending on need. If I am having a humid hair frizz moment, I will hit the heavier formula, but if I am just trying to tame a few fly aways I will use the lite.
Smooth & Seal Spray: This is a finishing spray that seals in moisture and blocks out humidity. This is great for keeping the frizz away after you’ve gotten it under control. I really like this a lot, it definitely helps.
If you have any questions or if you try any of these products let me know in the comments!
XO,
I have sensitive skin – eczema, dermatitis, you name it. I have shifted to all organic products since 2012 to avoid any flare ups, especially that my skin is very much controlled now. Thanks for this wonderful share. Now I know what kinds of make up I should be opting for.
Our skin can absorb over 60% of what we put on it — that goes for moisturizers, foundations, even lipstick.
Great post, Many Thanks
I love BB Creams
Will have to try sulfate free shampoo and conditioner…
Thanks for this impressive list,
Cerelia
