So last week I told you I was going to Coachella and that I wasn’t really looking forward to it. Well I am happy to report that I had an amazing time and I am really glad I went. It was a day of firsts, first time to Coachella, first time to Palm Springs, first time in a sand storm. (Yes really!) The lesson is, sometimes it’s important to actually have life experiences and not miss out because of what you ‘think’ it will be. Had I not gone I would’ve missed out on a great time with my girlfriends. I will be posting some pics later this week but for now I wanna talk about my outfit and this bad ass faux hawk that I was rocking.
The other day I was telling you that the boho chic style that Coachella is known for is not really me. So I opted to do rocker chic instead. I love a good graphic tee and this one is my absolute favorite. Its so worn in and comfy and it just had the right vibe for the occasion. Pairing it with a pair of cut offs stayed true to my style and was perfect for the extreme heat of the desert. But because I didn’t feel exactly ready to be sporting shorts (running to the gym now!) I grabbed this denim dress and wore it as a layered top. Of course I had to add some leopard and this bag was the perfect size for me to lug around the essentials, water, lipgloss and powder (the heat seriously melts your makeup), phone and snacks. The boots were the icing on the cake. I loved the marbled tie dye effect that made them perfect for Coachella.
As comfy as this outfit was, what tied the look together was this awesome braided faux hawk. When we got to our first destination at the Ace Hotel, there was a braid bar. Since I had no time to do my hair that morning, I jumped right in there and asked if we could do a cool french braid faux hawk. After lot’s of teasing and hairspray this was the result. I was so excited to rock this look because it’s very rare that I get this crazy with my hair and it just put my in the mood of the day. Surprisingly it held up the entire day despite the heat. In fact I woke up the next day and it was still intact. I will definitely try to have more fun with my hair, after all I do have good hair in which to do it!
What do you think of this look? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
