I think it’s safe to say, we all have beauty secrets. Some are known by many and some aren’t but I’m a firm believer in sharing the knowledge so here is a beauty secret that I didn’t know about until recently that has worked really well for me.

Baking Soda.

Yup, good ole baking soda. Why you ask?

Well due to the head of hair I have, I only shampoo twice a week. Washing my hair any more than that drys it out and is too much. But I workout and I sweat and I tend to get really greasy roots really easily. Dry shampoo is one of my must have products and over the years I’ve tried them all. Some work great, others not so much, but what they all have in common is they create product build up. This was easily solved in the past simply by getting a good clarifying shampoo and using it once a week, however since doing a keratin treatment on my hair, I can no longer use those shampoos because they all contain sulfates. (If you’ve never done keratin, the number one rule is no sulfate shampoo because sulfates strip the keratin right out.)

So what to do? This is when a hair stylist friend of mine shared an old family secret: use baking soda. At first I was skeptical, I’m not one of those girls that uses food as beauty products but let me tell you, this really works. Once a week I mix a handfull of baking powder in with my regular sulfate free shampoo. Massage it in, rinse it out and voila! No more shampoo build up.

So there you go, a little beauty secret from me to you. I would love to know what secrets you have!
